About Us

My name is Jeremy Basch, I live in Columbus, OH but am orginally from Westlake, Cleveland, OH. I have been keeping fish for over 15 years now. I got my first aquarium when I was 10 years old. It was a 15 gallon tank which over the years I kept fish like tetras, swordtails, cichlids, catfish and rasboras.

When I was 16, I started working at one of the local fish stores in town, Aquarium Adventure. From there, with the money I had saved, I started buying various tanks for freshwater fish I was interested in. This continued until 2004 when I setup a fishroom which currently contains 40+ aquariums ranging in size from 5 to 150 gallons.

My main focus is on cichlids and catfish from South America. I also maintain a few West African Cichlid and Killifish species, some Cypriniformes and I finally setup a small Saltwater Reef tank late in 2007, a 5 gallon reef tank. Over the years, I have bred over 30 species of fish including many cichlids, catfish, tetras, killifish, livebearers & invertebrates.

I am a current member and the chairman of the Columbus Area Fish Enthusiasts. I am also members of the Ohio Cichlid Association, Greater Cincinnati Aquarium Society and the American Cichlid Association. Some publications I have been printed in include the Buntbarsche Bulletin & the CAFE Menu. I am a regular at many fish shows and conventions throughout the Midwest.
