Book References - Lake Victoria Rock Cichlds by Ole Seehausen
Lake Victorian cichlids have been for the most part overlooked but more recently a few aquarists & scientists have started working with these fish. More recently, 2007-2008, a few species of wild Victorian cichlids have made their way into the trade. It is hoped that more species will be made available in the coming years & end up in the hands of reliable aquarists.
Lake Victoria Rock Cichlids is by far, the best available book on lake Victorian cichlids. A lot of species that had not been documented in any other publication, are dealt within the 304 pages of this book. The images alone are worth what this book costs & I have to admit that some day I hope to have a Victorian cichlid tank.
Probably the biggest down sides to this book is that book only deals with species from the South central part of the lake. I also find the book a little hard in keeping species straight. What might have worked better would have been to provide a seperate section for each fish species.
If you are interested in these cichlids, I'd suggest this book. It will provide the information any aquarist needs to keep these cichlids successfully.
